This video is of a test conducted by H&K for a new SOCOM requirement, pitting their new HK416 assault rifle against the Colt M4A1, which is standard-issue for the majority of our front-line soldiers.
The video's in German, but you really don't need to understand what they're saying to get the point. Pay particular attention to what happens 1:30 into the clip.
The Army Ordinace Department says that the M4A1 is the best, most reliable rifle in the world, and that there is no need to adopt a new weapon. After seeing what happened to the one in the video, I say that's bullcrap. How about you?

Meh. I'm not that into army demonstration videos.
Also, I'd sincerely recommend fixing your blog title in your template and not just doing the quick fix in settings. Right now when you go to your profile, it lists one of your blogs as Raptor's Nest.
How often are soldiers in Iraq dousing themselves in muddy water?
It seems like getting new guns would only lengthen a war that is already costing us 4000 dollars a second, though I suppose it's up there with, say, decent hospitals and body armor for those in combat.
I guess my point is yeah, I'm all for soldiers getting new weapons if we had like a trillion billion more dollars to spend, but I guess I think it's more important to spend money on ways to help protect the soldiers during and rehabilitate them after the war than to give them new ways to right now. Obviously, though, I know little about this issue. I would have to talk to an actual soldier about his or her priorities before I really made a choice one way or the other
